A: Yes, Depreciation Calculator runs perfectly under the Windows 10 operating system.

 Q: What are the minimum system requirements to use Depreciation Calculator?
A: Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10. At least 4 GB of RAM, monitor with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, and a Pentium 5 class processor or better.

Q: How often is the program updated? And what is the cost?
A: The program is updated each December to include all tax law changes that affect the computation of depreciation for the current year and what is known about the next year. The cost of the annual update is currently $195 per year. If the full version is purchased after June 30th then the first update is free of charge (all future updates are not free.)

Q: What is the cost of program support?
A: Program support is free for as long as you own the program and keep it updated each year by purchasing the Annual Update. To keep the support free, we request that you contact us by email. Email your questions to If we determine that a phone call is necessary, we will call you.

Q: Does Depreciation Calculator interface with any tax preparation software?
A: No, it does not. However, the summary totals can be easily entered into most tax preparation programs from the Form 4562 that Depreciation Calculator prepares.

Q: Does Depreciation Calculator import or convert asset information from any other depreciation programs or an Excel spreadsheet?
A: No, it does not. You must manually enter all asset data directly into Depreciation Calculator. There is no conversion utility to convert your data into our program.

Q: What is the maximum number of assets that Depreciation Calculator can handle?
A:  The program is designed to meet the needs of small to medium businesses with several thousand assets.

Q: Can Depreciation Calculator be installed on a network?
A:  With the Multi-User version, the data file is installed on your network server where it can be accessed by up to 5 users at one location. However, two users cannot use the same company file simultaneously. The other users must wait until the first user closes the company file before they can open it. The Single User version cannot be installed on a network. The single user data file must be located on your local computer.

Q: Does Depreciation Calculator automatically handle like-kind exchanges?
A:  The program handles simple trade-ins of one vehicle for another or one piece of equipment for another in accordance with the provisions of IRB 2004-14. However, the program does not handle complex Section 1031 like-kind exchanges.

A: Yes, the program does handle partial dispositions of an asset.
